Classic yomari.

Ingredients

6 servings
Rice flour2½ cups
Waterabout 1 cup, very hot
Jaggery¾ cup, grated
Sesame seeds4 tbsp, toasted and crushed
Gheefor shaping
Salta pinch

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Melt jaggery with a spoon of water until thick and syrupy (chaku). Stir in sesame and cool slightly.
  2. 2Pour hot water into rice flour with salt and knead into a smooth dough.
  3. 3Shape a ball into a cone with a hollow inside, fill with chaku and pinch closed into a fish shape with a long tail.
  4. 4Steam for 15 minutes.
Serve it like this

Serve warm on a plate, tails pointing up, perhaps with a drizzle of ghee.
