Ingredients

Rava (semolina)1¼ cups semolina
Sugar1 cup
Thin coconut milk2½ cups
Salt½ tsp
Butter4 tbsp, or ghee
Egg2
Cardamom½ tsp
Poppy seeds (white poppy seeds)2 tsp

Method

5 steps
  1. 1Toast the semolina in a dry pan for 5 minutes until fragrant.
  2. 2Warm the coconut milk with the sugar and salt, add the semolina and cook, stirring, for 15 minutes until very thick.
  3. 3Off the heat beat in the butter, cardamom and eggs.
  4. 4Spread in a greased tin, sprinkle poppy seeds and bake at 180 C for 45 minutes until deep golden.
  5. 5Cool, then cut into diamonds.
Serve it like this

Cut into diamonds and serve at room temperature on a plate with Burmese milk tea.
