Ingredients

4 servings
White maize meal (white cornmeal, maize meal)2½ cups
Water2 cups for krummelpap
Salt1 tsp
Butter1 tbsp (optional)

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Bring salted water to a rolling boil. Pour in all the maize meal at once, making a mound in the middle. Do not stir.
  2. 2Cover and cook on low 5 minutes. Then stir with a fork, breaking it into crumbs.
  3. 3Cover and steam on the lowest heat, fluffing with a fork every 10 minutes, until cooked.
  4. 4Fluff in butter and salt.
Serve it like this

Pile beside braaied meat with chakalaka or tomato and onion sauce spooned over.
