Ingredients

Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)4 cups
Instant dry yeast2¼ tsp
Sugar¼ cup for dough, 1 cup icing sugar
Salt1 tsp
Milk1 cup, warm
Egg1
Butter10 tbsp, soft, divided
Brown sugar¾ cup
Cinnamon powder2 tbsp
Cream cheese110 g
Vanilla essence (vanilla flavouring, imitation vanilla extract)1 tsp

Method

5 steps
  1. 1Knead flour, yeast, 50 g sugar, salt, warm milk, egg and 75 g butter into a soft dough. Prove 1 hour.
  2. 2Roll to a 40 by 30 cm rectangle. Spread with 60 g soft butter and sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon.
  3. 3Roll up tightly from the long side, cut 12 slices with thread, and place in a buttered dish. Prove 45 minutes.
  4. 4Bake at 180 C for 22 to 25 minutes.
  5. 5Beat cream cheese, remaining butter, icing sugar and vanilla. Spread on warm rolls.
Serve it like this

Serve warm from the dish, pulled apart, with extra icing. Coffee or milk alongside.
