Ingredients

Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)3¼ cups
Instant dry yeast2 tsp
Sugar⅓ cup
Salt1 tsp
Milk powder (powdered milk)1 tbsp
Milk1 cup, warm
Butter3 tbsp
Vanilla essence (vanilla flavouring, imitation vanilla extract)½ tsp
Tutti frutti (glacé fruit, candied fruit)⅔ cup, tossed in flour

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Knead flour, yeast, sugar, salt, milk powder, milk and vanilla for 8 minutes, then add butter.
  2. 2Knead in the floured tutti frutti. Rise 1 hour.
  3. 3Shape into a loaf, place in a tin and rise 45 minutes.
  4. 4Bake at 180 C for 30 to 35 minutes. Brush with butter and cool.
Serve it like this

Slice thickly and serve plain or toasted with butter, with tea or a glass of milk. Great in tiffin boxes.
