Ingredients

12 servings
Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)3 cups
Butter1 cup, cold
Sugar100 g pastry, 50 g apples
Egg yolk3
Baking powder1 tsp
Apple1.5 kg tart apples, grated or sliced
Cinnamon powder2 tsp
Lemon juice1 tbsp
Salta pinch

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Rub flour, butter, sugar, baking powder and salt, add yolks and gather into a dough. Chill half, freeze half.
  2. 2Cook apples with sugar, cinnamon and lemon until soft and dry. Cool.
  3. 3Press chilled dough into a tin, spread apples, then grate frozen dough over the top.
  4. 4Bake at 180 C until golden.
Serve it like this

Serve warm squares dusted with icing sugar, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
