Classic sadza ne nyama.

Ingredients

4 servings
White maize meal (white cornmeal, maize meal)2½ cups white maize meal (upfu)
Waterfor sadza and stew
Beef600 g stewing beef, cubed
Onion1 large, chopped
Tomato3, chopped
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)2 tbsp
Garlic3 cloves
Stock cube (bouillon cube)1 cube
Kale250 g covo greens or kale, shredded
Saltto taste

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Brown the beef in oil, add onion and garlic and cook until soft.
  2. 2Add tomatoes, stock cube and water and simmer until the beef is tender and the sauce thick.
  3. 3Cook the greens with a little onion, tomato and salt for 5 minutes.
  4. 4Make sadza: cook a third of the meal into a thin porridge, then beat in the rest until very thick and smooth. Cover 5 minutes.
Serve it like this

Serve a smooth mound of sadza beside the beef stew and greens. Roll a ball of sadza in your hand and scoop.
