Ingredients

4 servings
Butter3 tbsp, divided
Onion3, thinly sliced
Salt1 tsp
Minced beef (beef mince, beef or buff keema)500 g
Black pepper½ tsp
Worcestershire sauce1 tsp
Rye bread8 slices
Gruyère cheese8 slices Swiss

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Cook onions in half the butter with a pinch of salt on low for 25 minutes.
  2. 2Season mince with salt, pepper and Worcestershire and shape 4 thin oval patties.
  3. 3Sear patties 2 to 3 minutes a side.
  4. 4Layer cheese, patty, onions and cheese between rye, butter the outsides and griddle 3 minutes a side.
Serve it like this

Cut diagonally and serve hot with fries, pickles and ketchup.
