Ingredients

4 servings
Chicken, curry cut (bone in chicken, small pieces)750 g, curry cut
Sesame seeds⅓ cup black sesame
Turmeric (ground turmeric)1 tsp
Saltto taste
Mustard oil2 tbsp
Bay leaf (indian bay leaf)2
Onion2 medium, sliced
Ginger garlic paste2 tbsp
Green chilli3, slit
Kashmiri chilli powder1 tsp
Water1¼ cups

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Dry roast the black sesame until it pops and smells nutty. Grind to a paste with a little water.
  2. 2Marinate the chicken in turmeric and salt. Heat mustard oil, add bay leaves and onion, fry until golden.
  3. 3Add ginger garlic paste, chillies and chilli powder, then the chicken. Fry until the chicken firms up.
  4. 4Stir in the sesame paste and water. Cover and simmer until the chicken is cooked through with no pink and the gravy is thick.
Serve it like this

Serve hot in a deep bowl with a swirl of ghee or a few coriander leaves on top, and rice or rotis on the side.
