Ingredients

4 servings
Whole masoor (brown lentils)1 cup brown or green lentils
Onion1 small red onion, finely chopped
Green chilli2 to 3, finely chopped
Lemon juice3 tbsp
Mustard paste1 tbsp
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)1½ tbsp
Waterfor boiling

Method

3 steps
  1. 1Boil the lentils in plenty of water until just tender, not mushy. Drain and cool.
  2. 2Whisk mustard, lemon juice, oil and salt.
  3. 3Toss lentils with onion, chilli and dressing. Chill 15 minutes.
Serve it like this

Serve chilled in a bowl on a fasting platter, or spoon onto injera; scatter extra chopped chilli on top.
