Classic akkara adisil.

Ingredients

6 servings
Rice½ cup
Moong dal (split yellow mung beans)2 tbsp, roasted
Milk5 cups
Jaggery1¼ cups, grated
Ghee¼ cup
Cashews2 tbsp
Raisins1½ tbsp
Cardamom½ tsp
Saffrona few strands

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Cook rice and dal in milk on low heat, stirring often, until very soft and mushy.
  2. 2Melt jaggery with a splash of water, strain and stir in with saffron.
  3. 3Add ghee a spoon at a time and stir until absorbed.
  4. 4Top with cashews and raisins fried in ghee and cardamom.
Serve it like this

Serve warm in a bowl with a little extra ghee on top and the cashews showing.
