Ingredients

12 servings
Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)3¼ cups
Baking powder4 tsp
Salta pinch
Butter4 tbsp, cold
Milk1 cup
Yeast extract spread2 tbsp Vegemite or Marmite, softened
Cheddar cheese2 cups, grated

Method

5 steps
  1. 1Rub butter into flour, baking powder and salt, then stir in milk to a soft dough.
  2. 2Roll on a floured bench to a 30 x 40 cm rectangle.
  3. 3Spread thinly with Vegemite and scatter most of the cheese over.
  4. 4Roll up from the long side, cut into 12 slices and pack into a lined tin. Top with the remaining cheese.
  5. 5Bake at 210°C for 18 to 20 minutes until golden and bubbling.
Serve it like this

Serve warm, pulled apart from the tin, or cooled in lunchboxes. Good with a flat white.
