Ingredients

10 servings
Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)3¼ cups
Egg4
Butter3 tbsp, soft
Sugar3 tbsp, plus sprinkles
Lemonzest
Salta pinch
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)for deep frying, about 8 tbsp absorbed
Honey¾ cup
Candied peel (tutti frutti or candied orange peel)½ cup

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Knead flour, eggs, butter, sugar, zest and salt into a soft dough. Rest 30 minutes.
  2. 2Roll thin ropes and cut into chickpea sized pieces.
  3. 3Fry in batches at 175C until golden.
  4. 4Warm honey until runny, toss balls in with candied peel, and pile into a ring. Decorate with sprinkles.
Serve it like this
