Ingredients

12 servings
Butter½ cup, softened
Sugar1 cup, plus 3 tbsp for rolling
Egg1
Vanilla essence (vanilla flavouring, imitation vanilla extract)1 tsp
Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)1½ cups
Baking soda (bicarb soda, bicarbonate of soda)½ tsp
Lemon juice1 tsp
Salta pinch
Cinnamon powder2 tsp

Method

5 steps
  1. 1Heat the oven to 180 C. Cream butter with 160 g sugar until fluffy, then beat in the egg and vanilla.
  2. 2Mix in the maida, soda, salt and lemon juice.
  3. 3Mix the remaining sugar with the cinnamon. Roll dough into balls and coat well.
  4. 4Bake 2 inches apart for 9 to 11 minutes.
  5. 5Cool 5 minutes on the tray.
Serve it like this

Serve warm or at room temperature in a basket with milk, chai or hot chocolate.
