Ingredients

3 servings
Rye bread250 g, stale, cubed
Water2½ cups
Brown sugar3 tbsp
Orangezest and juice of 1
Lemon juice1 tsp
Salta pinch
Fresh cream (thickened cream, heavy cream)⅓ cup, whipped, to serve

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Soak the rye bread in the water overnight, or at least 2 hours.
  2. 2Simmer the soaked bread, stirring and mashing, for 10 minutes.
  3. 3Stir in sugar, orange zest and juice, lemon and salt. Blend for a smoother finish if you like.
  4. 4Serve with whipped cream or cold milk.
Serve it like this

Serve in shallow bowls with a big spoon of whipped cream on top and orange zest. Cold milk on the side.
