Ohagi, also called botamochi.

Ingredients

6 servings
Glutinous rice (sweet rice)¾ cup
Short grain rice (sushi rice)¼ cup
Water1 cup
Salta pinch
Sweet red bean paste1¼ cups chunky red bean paste
Kinako3 tbsp
Sesame seeds2 tbsp, toasted and ground
Sugar1 tbsp, for the coatings

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Wash both rices, soak 1 hour, then cook with the water and salt as for normal rice.
  2. 2Mash the hot rice lightly with a wet pestle until half the grains are crushed.
  3. 3With wet hands, shape into 12 small ovals.
  4. 4Wrap 6 in red bean paste. Roll the rest in kinako or ground sesame mixed with sugar.
Serve it like this
