Ingredients

3 servings
Broken wheat (cracked wheat)⅔ cup
Moong dal (split yellow mung beans)3 tbsp
Onion1, chopped
Tomato1, chopped
Carrot1 small, diced
Green peas⅓ cup
Green beansa handful, chopped
Green chilli1, slit
Ginger1 tsp, grated
Cumin seeds½ tsp
Turmeric (ground turmeric)¼ tsp
Ghee1 tbsp
Saltto taste
Water3 cups
Coriander leaves (cilantro)to finish
Lemon juice2 tsp

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Dry roast the dalia in the cooker for 3 minutes, then tip out. Rinse the moong dal.
  2. 2Heat ghee, crackle cumin, then fry onion, ginger and chilli until soft. Add tomato and turmeric and cook until mushy.
  3. 3Add the vegetables, dalia, dal, salt and water. Pressure cook for 3 whistles on medium, then let the pressure release naturally.
  4. 4Stir well, loosen with hot water if needed and finish with lemon and coriander.
Serve it like this

Serve hot in bowls with a drizzle of ghee, coriander and lemon. Curd, pickle and a papad on the side.
