Classic mohanthal.

Ingredients

12 servings
Besan (chickpea flour, gram flour)1⅔ cups, coarse
Ghee¾ cup
Milk3 tbsp, for dhabo
Khoa100 g, crumbled
Sugar1 cup
Water½ cup
Cardamom½ tsp
Saffrona pinch
Almondsslivered
Pistachiosslivered

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Rub 2 tbsp ghee and warm milk into the besan, rest 15 minutes, then sieve.
  2. 2Roast the besan in the rest of the ghee on low heat until golden and fragrant. Add the khoa and roast 2 minutes.
  3. 3Make a one string syrup with sugar, water, saffron and cardamom.
  4. 4Pour the syrup into the besan and stir until thick. Spread into a greased tray, top with nuts and cut when set.
Serve it like this

Serve in small bowls, warm or chilled as it likes best, with a few chopped nuts on top.
