Ingredients

4 servings
Raw banana (green plantain)8 green cooking bananas, peeled and halved
Beef300 g, cubed
Onion1, chopped
Tomato3, chopped
Garlic2 cloves
Ginger2.5 cm
Curry powder1½ tsp
Capsicum (green capsicum, green bell pepper)½, chopped
Coriander leaves (cilantro)to finish
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)2 tbsp
Water2 cups
Saltto taste

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Peel the bananas with oiled hands and drop into salted water.
  2. 2Brown the beef in oil, then add onion, garlic, ginger and curry powder.
  3. 3Add tomato and capsicum and cook down. Add water, cover and simmer until beef is nearly tender.
  4. 4Add bananas and simmer until soft, mashing a few to thicken.
Serve it like this

Spoon into bowls with coriander on top, with kachumbari or avocado on the side.
