Fish500 g surmai or pomfret, in 1 cm slices
Lemon juice1 tbsp
Turmeric (ground turmeric)½ tsp

Ginger garlic paste1 tbsp
Kashmiri chilli powder1 tbsp
Red chilli powder (indian red chili powder)1 tsp
Coriander powder (ground coriander)1 tsp
Rava (semolina)½ cup fine rava
Rice flour3 tbsp
Coconut oil3 tbsp, for shallow fryingMethod
- 1Wash the fish and pat it very dry. Rub with salt, turmeric and lemon and leave for 10 minutes.
- 2Mix the chilli powders, coriander powder and ginger garlic paste with a few drops of water into a thick paste. Coat the fish and rest 15 minutes.
- 3Mix the rava and rice flour with a pinch of salt and press each slice into it on both sides.
- 4Heat the coconut oil on a tawa over medium. Lay the fish in and fry 3 to 4 minutes a side, without moving it until it is time to flip.
- 5Drain briefly and serve hot with sol kadhi, rice, onion rings and lemon.
Serve it like thisDrain on paper for a minute, pile onto a plate and serve hot with chutney on the side.
