Ingredients

12 servings
Sugar2⅔ cups (incl. for dusting)
Cornflour (cornstarch)1 cup (incl. for dusting)
Water3 cups
Lemon juice1 tbsp
Rose water1 tbsp
Rose syrup1 tbsp, for colour

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Boil the sugar, lemon and part of the water until it reaches a soft syrup.
  2. 2Whisk the cornflour into the rest of the water and cook, stirring, until thick.
  3. 3Gradually whisk the syrup into the paste and cook on low, stirring often, for about 1 hour.
  4. 4Stir in the rose water and rose syrup, pour into a dusted tray and set overnight. Cut into cubes and dust.
Serve it like this

Arrange cubes on a plate, dusted. Serve with Turkish coffee.
