Ingredients

5 servings
Beef700 g, small cubes
Shallots15, sliced
Garlic8 cloves
Ginger4 cm
Green chilli3
Fresh grated coconut½ cup thin coconut slivers
Coriander powder (ground coriander)1½ tbsp
Kashmiri chilli powder1 tbsp
Black pepper2 tsp, crushed
Garam masala1½ tsp
Fennel seeds1 tsp
Turmeric (ground turmeric)½ tsp
Vinegar2 tsp
Coconut oil3 tbsp
Curry leaves4 sprigs
Water½ cup
Saltto taste

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Mix beef with turmeric, chilli and coriander powders, half the pepper and garam masala, ginger, garlic, vinegar and salt. Rest 30 minutes.
  2. 2Pressure cook with water for 5 to 6 whistles until tender. Let pressure release naturally.
  3. 3Heat coconut oil in a heavy pan, fry coconut slivers until golden, then shallots, green chilli and curry leaves.
  4. 4Add the beef with stock and fry on medium, stirring, until dry and dark. Add remaining pepper, garam masala and fennel.
Serve it like this

Serve hot on a plate, with a few fresh coriander leaves on top.
