Ingredients

4 servings
Minced mutton (goat mince, ground goat)500 g mutton or lamb mince
Onion1 small, grated
Garlic2 cloves, grated
Breadcrumbs⅓ cup
Egg1
Cumin powder (ground cumin)1 tsp
Paprika1 tsp
Flat leaf parsleya handful
Saltto taste
Black pepper½ tsp
Potato3 large, in wedges
Capsicum (green capsicum, green bell pepper)2 green peppers, in strips
Tomato3, sliced
Tomato puree¾ cup
Water¾ cup
Olive oil2 tbsp
Dried red chillia pinch of flakes

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Mix the mince with onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, cumin, paprika, parsley, salt and pepper. Shape into 16 finger shaped köfte.
  2. 2Brown the köfte and potato wedges lightly in a pan or under the grill with a little oil.
  3. 3Heat the oven to 200°C. Arrange köfte, potatoes, peppers and tomato slices alternately in a tray.
  4. 4Mix the tomato puree, water, chilli flakes, salt and remaining oil, pour over and bake until the potatoes are tender, the sauce thick and the köfte cooked through.
Serve it like this

Serve straight from the tray with rice pilaf or crusty bread to soak up the sauce, and a yoghurt dip.
