Classic gokul pitha.

Ingredients

6 servings
Fresh grated coconut1½ cups
Khoa½ cup, grated
Sugar40 g for filling, 200 g for syrup
Cardamom¼ tsp
Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)⅔ cup
Rice flour3 tbsp
Milk½ cup, for batter
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)for frying, about this much is absorbed
Water1 cup, for syrup

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Cook coconut, khoa, 40 g sugar and cardamom until it gathers into a soft mass. Cool and shape 12 flat patties.
  2. 2Whisk maida, rice flour and milk into a thick batter.
  3. 3Boil 200 g sugar and water to a one string syrup.
  4. 4Dip patties in batter and fry on medium heat until golden. Dunk in warm syrup for 2 minutes.
Serve it like this

Serve two warm gokul pitha on a plate with a little syrup pooled underneath.
