Ingredients

12 servings
Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)4 cups
Instant dry yeast2¼ tsp
Sugar¼ cup for dough, 1 1/2 cups icing sugar for glaze
Milk1 cup for dough plus 3 tbsp for glaze
Egg2
Butter4 tbsp, soft
Salt1 tsp
Vanilla essence (vanilla flavouring, imitation vanilla extract)1 tsp
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)for deep frying (about 1/2 cup absorbed)

Method

5 steps
  1. 1Mix flour, yeast, 60 g sugar and salt. Add warm milk, eggs and butter; knead 8 to 10 minutes.
  2. 2Cover and prove until doubled, about 1 hour.
  3. 3Roll to 1 cm, cut rings and prove 30 minutes on floured paper.
  4. 4Fry at 175 C, 1 minute a side.
  5. 5Whisk icing sugar, milk and vanilla. Dip warm doughnuts and let set on a rack.
Serve it like this
