Potato2 large, thin matchsticks
Carrot½, matchsticks
Onion½, sliced
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)2 tbsp
Salt¾ tsp
Black peppera pinch
Sesame seeds1 tsp
Green chilli1, sliced (optional)

Method

  1. 1Cut potatoes into thin matchsticks and soak in cold water for 10 minutes, then drain well.
  2. 2Heat oil, add potatoes and salt and stir fry on medium for 4 minutes.
  3. 3Add carrot and onion and cook 3 to 4 minutes more.
  4. 4Season with pepper, chilli and sesame seeds.
Serve it like this

Serve warm or at room temperature in a small bowl, sesame on top, beside rice; it packs well in a lunchbox.
