Ingredients

5 servings
Fish500 g seer fish or tuna
Potato2 medium, boiled and mashed
Onion1 large, finely chopped
Ginger2.5 cm, chopped
Garlic3 cloves, chopped
Green chilli3, chopped
Curry leaves1 sprig, chopped
Garam masala1 tsp
Black pepper1 tsp
Turmeric (ground turmeric)¼ tsp
Coconut oil2 tsp
Saltto taste
Egg2, beaten
Breadcrumbs1 cup
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)for shallow frying

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Poach the fish with turmeric and salt until it flakes. Remove skin and bones and flake finely.
  2. 2Sauté onion, ginger, garlic, chillies and curry leaves in coconut oil until soft. Add the fish, pepper and garam masala and cook until dry.
  3. 3Mix with mashed potato and shape into 14 oval cutlets.
  4. 4Dip in egg, coat in breadcrumbs and shallow fry until golden, or air fry with a spray of oil. To freeze, freeze crumbed on a tray.
Serve it like this

Serve hot with sliced onion, lemon wedges and tomato ketchup, alongside a cup of tea.
