Ingredients

3 servings
Firm tofu1 block firm tofu, in 1 cm slices
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)1 tbsp
Salta pinch
Soy sauce2 tbsp
Gochugaru1 tbsp
Sugar2 tsp
Garlic3 cloves, minced
Onion½, thinly sliced
Water⅓ cup plus 1 tbsp
Sesame oil1 tsp
Spring onion (green onion, scallion)2 stalks, sliced
Sesame seeds1 tsp

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Pat the tofu dry, sprinkle with salt and pan fry in oil until golden on both sides.
  2. 2Mix soy, gochugaru, sugar, garlic, water and sesame oil.
  3. 3Scatter onion over the tofu, pour on the sauce and simmer, spooning it over, until reduced.
  4. 4Top with spring onion and sesame.
Serve it like this

Overlap the glazed slices on a small plate with sauce spooned over and spring onion on top. Rice and kimchi alongside.
