Ingredients

12 servings
Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)4 cups
Instant dry yeast2 tsp
Salt1½ tsp
Honey3 tbsp
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)¼ cup
Egg4 (3 for dough, 1 for wash)
Water⅔ cup, warm
Sesame seeds1 tbsp, or poppy seeds

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Mix flour, yeast and salt. Add honey, oil, 3 eggs and water and knead 10 minutes.
  2. 2Rise 1 1/2 hours until doubled.
  3. 3Divide into 3 or 6 ropes and braid tightly, tucking the ends under. Rise 45 minutes.
  4. 4Brush twice with beaten egg, sprinkle seeds and bake at 180 C for 30 to 35 minutes.
Serve it like this

Set the whole braided loaf on a board and tear by hand at the table. Serve with soup, honey or butter.
