Rolled oats (porridge oats)1½ cups

Whole wheat flour (wholemeal atta flour, chapati flour)⅔ cup

Carrot2 carrots, finely grated

Apple1 apple, grated

Dates8 soft dates, chopped

Raisins¼ cup

Butter4 tbsp, melted

Egg1 egg

Milk¼ cup

Cinnamon powder1 tsp

Baking powder1½ tsp

Cream cheesefor a thin top

Honey1 tbsp, for the top

Method

4 steps

1Heat the oven to 180 C and line a 20 cm square tin. Mix the oats, flour, cinnamon and baking powder.
2Stir in the carrot, apple, dates and raisins, then the melted butter, egg and milk.
3Press into the tin and bake 25 minutes.
4Cool fully. Beat the cream cheese with honey, spread thinly and cut into 12 squares.

Serve it like this

Cut into neat squares and line them up in paper cases, or wrap one in baking paper for the tiffin.
