Classic blondies.

Ingredients

12 servings
Butter½ cup, melted
Brown sugar1 cup packed
Egg1
Vanilla essence (vanilla flavouring, imitation vanilla extract)2 tsp
Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)1 cup
Baking powder½ tsp
Salt¼ tsp
White chocolate⅔ cup, chopped
Walnuts⅓ cup, chopped

Method

5 steps
  1. 1Heat the oven to 175 C and line an 8 inch square tin.
  2. 2Whisk the melted butter and brown sugar, then the egg and vanilla, for 1 minute.
  3. 3Fold in the maida, baking powder and salt, then most of the white chocolate and walnuts.
  4. 4Spread in the tin, scatter the rest of the chocolate and nuts and bake 22 to 25 minutes.
  5. 5Cool completely before cutting into 12 bars.
Serve it like this

Cut into neat squares and serve at room temperature, or warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel.
