Ingredients

4 servings
Beefsirloin, sliced thin
Soy sauce4 tbsp
Lemon juice4 tbsp calamansi or lime juice
Garlic6 cloves
Black pepper1 tsp
Onion2 large, in thick rings
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)2 tbsp
Water½ cup
Jaggery1 tsp

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Marinate beef with soy, calamansi, garlic and pepper for at least 30 minutes.
  2. 2Fry onion rings in oil until just soft; remove.
  3. 3Sear the beef in batches over high heat.
  4. 4Add marinade, water and jaggery and simmer until the beef is tender and sauce slightly thick. Top with onions.
Serve it like this

Arrange beef in a shallow dish with sauce, pile onion rings on top and serve with steamed rice.
