Ingredients

12 servings
Rolled oats (porridge oats)1 cup rolled oats
Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)1 cup
Desiccated coconut (unsweetened shredded coconut)¾ cup
Brown sugar¾ cup
Butter½ cup
Golden syrup (golden syrup or light corn syrup)2 tbsp
Baking soda (bicarb soda, bicarbonate of soda)½ tsp
Water2 tbsp boiling

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Mix oats, flour, coconut and sugar.
  2. 2Melt butter and golden syrup. Mix soda with boiling water and add; it will foam.
  3. 3Stir into the dry mix. Roll balls and flatten on lined trays.
  4. 4Bake at 160 C for 12 to 15 minutes.
Serve it like this

Stack on a plate or pack in a tin. Serve with tea or coffee.
