Ingredients

4 servings
Banana flower1 medium, cleaned and chopped
Fresh grated coconut½ cup
Shallots5
Garlic2 cloves
Green chilli2
Turmeric (ground turmeric)¼ tsp
Coconut oil1 tbsp
Mustard seeds½ tsp
Urad dal (split black gram)1 tsp
Curry leaves2 sprigs
Saltto taste

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Oil your hands. Peel the purple bracts, remove the hard stamen from each floret, and chop fine into water with a spoon of buttermilk or a pinch of turmeric.
  2. 2Crush coconut, shallots, garlic, green chilli and turmeric coarsely.
  3. 3Heat coconut oil, splutter mustard and urad dal, add curry leaves and the drained flower with salt. Cover and cook on low.
  4. 4Add the coconut mix, toss and cook uncovered 3 minutes.
Serve it like this

Serve hot on a plate, with a few fresh coriander leaves on top.
