Ingredients

4 servings
Rice1 cup
Tomato4 medium, chopped
Onion1 large, sliced
Ginger garlic paste2 tsp
Green chilli2, slit
Red chilli powder (indian red chili powder)1 tsp
Turmeric (ground turmeric)¼ tsp
Garam masala½ tsp
Whole spices1 bay leaf, cinnamon, 2 cloves
Mint leavesa few
Coriander leaves (cilantro)a handful
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)2 tbsp
Water2 cups
Saltto taste

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Wash rice and soak 15 minutes. Heat oil in a cooker, fry whole spices and onion until golden.
  2. 2Add ginger garlic paste and green chilli, then tomatoes, turmeric, chilli powder and salt. Cook until pulpy.
  3. 3Add mint, garam masala, rice and water. Pressure cook 2 whistles and let pressure release naturally.
  4. 4Fluff with a fork and finish with coriander.
Serve it like this
