Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)2 cups
Milk½ cup plus 2 tbsp, warm
Ghee3½ tbsp
Sugar1½ tbsp
Instant dry yeast1 tsp
Salt½ tsp
Saffrona big pinch, soaked in 2 tbsp warm milk
Rose water1 tsp, or kewra waterMethod
- 1Mix maida, yeast, sugar and salt. Add warm milk and ghee and knead a soft dough. Rest 1 1/2 to 2 hours until doubled.
- 2Divide into 6 balls, roll into thick discs and prick all over with a fork.
- 3Bake at 220 C for 8 to 10 minutes.
- 4Brush with saffron milk and rose water and bake 2 more minutes.
Serve it like thisStack them in a cloth lined basket so they stay soft and warm, with a little ghee on top if you like.
