Ingredients

2 servings
Rolled oats (porridge oats)1 cup, medium or rolled
Water2 cups
Salta good pinch
Milkcold, to serve

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Bring the water to a boil and sprinkle in the oats in a steady stream, stirring.
  2. 2Stir with a wooden spoon or spurtle, always in one direction, and simmer 8 to 10 minutes.
  3. 3Add the salt in the last few minutes, then rest 1 minute off the heat.
  4. 4Serve in bowls with cold milk in a separate bowl or poured around the edge.
Serve it like this

Serve in warm bowls with a jug of cold milk on the side. Purists add nothing else; others add golden syrup or brown sugar.
