Ingredients

12 servings
Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)4 cups
Instant dry yeast1 tbsp
Milk½ cup, warm
Sugar½ cup
Butter6 tbsp, soft
Egg4: 3 for dough, 1 to brush
Orange blossom water (orange flower water)2 tbsp
Orangezest of 1
Candied peel (tutti frutti or candied orange peel)⅓ cup
Glace cherries (candied cherries)8
Almondsflaked
Pearl sugar2 tbsp
Salt½ tsp

Method

5 steps
  1. 1Mix flour, yeast, sugar, salt and zest. Add milk, 3 eggs, orange blossom water and knead 10 minutes. Add butter and knead until silky.
  2. 2Rise until doubled, 2 hours.
  3. 3Shape into a ring, hide a small ceramic figurine underneath if you like. Rise 1 hour.
  4. 4Brush with egg, decorate with peel, cherries, almonds and sugar.
  5. 5Bake at 180°C for 25 minutes.
Serve it like this

Place the ring on a board with a paper crown in the centre, served with thick hot chocolate.
