Ingredients

6 servings
Puff pastry2 sheets
Green peas2 cups
Onion1, chopped
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)1 tbsp
Garam masala1 tsp curry powder or garam masala
Turmeric (ground turmeric)¼ tsp
Cumin powder (ground cumin)¼ tsp
Saltto taste
Black peppera pinch

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Cook the peas until soft, then mash roughly.
  2. 2Fry the onion in oil until soft, add spices, then the peas and salt. Cool.
  3. 3Cut the pastry into rounds, add a spoon of filling and fold into a diamond or boat shape, pinching the ends.
  4. 4Bake at 200 C until puffed and deep golden.
Serve it like this

Pile warm on a plate or in a paper bag. Serve with tea, Maltese style.
