Ingredients

3 servings
Drumstick (moringa pods)3 drumsticks, cut into 3 inch pieces
Tomato1, chopped
Shallots6, peeled
Garlic3 cloves
Moong dal (split yellow mung beans)2 tbsp, for body
Turmeric (ground turmeric)¼ tsp
Water3¼ cups
Black pepper1 tsp, crushed
Cumin seeds1 tsp
Ghee2 tsp
Salt1 tsp
Coriander leaves (cilantro)chopped

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Pressure cook drumsticks, tomato, shallots, garlic, moong dal and turmeric with the water for 3 whistles. Let pressure release naturally.
  2. 2Scrape the pulp from the drumstick skins with a spoon, then blend the pulp with the cooked mixture. Strain.
  3. 3Heat ghee, crackle cumin and pepper and add to the soup. Simmer 3 minutes and season.
  4. 4Finish with coriander and serve hot.
Serve it like this

Serve hot in small bowls or tumblers with a crack of pepper and coriander on top. A few murukku on the side.
