Ingredients

4 servings
Prawns (shrimp)500 g, cleaned
Shallots15, chopped
Tomato2, chopped
Ginger garlic paste1½ tbsp
Red chilli powder (indian red chili powder)2 tsp
Coriander powder (ground coriander)2 tsp
Black pepper1 tsp, crushed
Fennel seeds1 tsp
Turmeric (ground turmeric)¼ tsp
Sesame oil3 tbsp
Curry leaves2 sprigs
Saltto taste

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Marinate prawns with turmeric, salt and half the chilli powder.
  2. 2Heat sesame oil, add fennel and curry leaves, then shallots and fry until deep golden.
  3. 3Add ginger garlic paste, tomatoes and spice powders; cook until mushy and the oil separates.
  4. 4Add prawns and cook on medium until they curl and the masala clings. Finish with pepper.
Serve it like this
