Classic chocolate crinkles.

Ingredients

Cocoa powder (unsweetened cocoa powder)½ cup
Sugar1 cup plus 1/2 cup powdered for rolling
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)¼ cup
Egg2
Vanilla essence (vanilla flavouring, imitation vanilla extract)1 tsp
Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)1 cup
Baking powder1 tsp
Salta pinch

Method

5 steps
  1. 1Whisk the cocoa, 200 g sugar and oil, then beat in the eggs and vanilla.
  2. 2Stir in the maida, baking powder and salt. Chill 1 hour.
  3. 3Heat the oven to 175 C. Roll into balls, roll in powdered sugar until completely white.
  4. 4Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
  5. 5Cool on the tray 5 minutes.
Serve it like this

Pile on a dark plate to show off the white cracks, with milk or hot chocolate alongside.
