Classic cake pops.

Ingredients

12 servings
Plain sponge cake300 g leftover sponge, crumbled
Cream cheese¼ cup
Butter1½ tbsp, soft
Sugar3 tbsp, powdered
White chocolate200 g
Dark chocolate (bittersweet chocolate)50 g, to drizzle
Sprinkles (hundreds and thousands)1 tbsp
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)1 tsp

Method

5 steps
  1. 1Crumble the cake finely into a bowl.
  2. 2Beat the cream cheese, butter and sugar, then knead into the crumbs until it holds together like dough.
  3. 3Roll into 24 walnut sized balls and chill 30 minutes.
  4. 4Melt the white chocolate with the oil. Dip each stick tip in chocolate, push halfway into a ball, then dip the whole ball and tap off the excess.
  5. 5Add sprinkles before the shell sets, then stand in a block of thermocol or a glass of sugar to set. Drizzle with melted dark chocolate.
Serve it like this

Stand the pops upright in a jar or block for a centrepiece, or wrap individually in cellophane with ribbon for party favours.
