Ingredients

6 servings
Egg noodleswide egg noodles
Tuna in oil (tinned tuna)2 tins, drained
Green peas1 cup
Button mushroomsliced
Onion1, chopped
Celery1 stalk, diced
Butter3½ tbsp
Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)¼ cup
Milk2 cups
Chicken stock (chicken broth)¾ cup
Cheddar cheese1 cup, grated
Breadcrumbs½ cup
Saltto taste
Black pepper½ tsp

Method

5 steps
  1. 1Boil the noodles 2 minutes short of the packet time and drain.
  2. 2Melt butter and cook onion, celery and mushrooms until golden.
  3. 3Stir in flour, cook 1 minute, then whisk in milk and stock and simmer until thick. Season and add half the cheese.
  4. 4Fold in noodles, tuna and peas, tip into a baking dish and top with remaining cheese and breadcrumbs.
  5. 5Bake at 190°C for 20 to 25 minutes until bubbling and golden.
Serve it like this

Scoop onto plates with a crispy top on every portion. Serve with green beans or a crunchy salad.
