Ingredients

4 servings
Banana stem1 piece, finely chopped
Moong dal (split yellow mung beans)2 tbsp, roasted
Fresh grated coconut⅓ cup
Potato1 small, diced
Mustard oil1 tbsp
Cumin seeds½ tsp
Bay leaf (indian bay leaf)1
Ginger2.5 cm paste
Green chilli2
Turmeric (ground turmeric)¼ tsp
Sugar1 tsp
Ghee1 tsp
Saltto taste

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Chop stem finely, remove fibres; boil until soft and drain.
  2. 2Temper cumin and bay leaf in mustard oil; fry potato.
  3. 3Add stem, dal, ginger, turmeric, sugar and salt; cook until dry.
  4. 4Finish with coconut and ghee.
Serve it like this

Serve warm beside rice and dal with a fry.
