Ingredients

4 servings
Besan (chickpea flour, gram flour)1¼ cups
Ngari2 tbsp, roasted and crushed
Onion1 small, chopped
Spring onion (green onion, scallion)3 stalks, chopped
Green chilli3, chopped
Ginger2.5 cm, chopped
Garlic3 cloves, chopped
Turmeric (ground turmeric)a pinch
Saltto taste
Waterabout 2/3 cup
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)2 tsp

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Mix besan with ngari, onion, spring onion, chilli, ginger, garlic, turmeric, salt and water to a thick batter.
  2. 2Pour onto oiled banana or turmeric leaves, fold into a parcel and tie.
  3. 3Steam the parcel for 25 to 30 minutes.
  4. 4Roast the steamed parcel on a hot tawa until the leaves char. Unwrap and slice.
Serve it like this

Serve hot on a plate, with a few fresh coriander leaves on top.
