Ingredients

Rice¾ cup
Toor dal (split pigeon peas)½ cup
Carrot1
Green beansa handful
Green peas½ cup
Potato1
Tomato1 large
Tamarinda lemon size ball
Bisi bele bath powder3 tbsp
Ghee2 tbsp
Cashewsa few
Peanuts2 tbsp
Mustard seeds1 tsp
Curry leaves1 sprig
Jaggery1 tsp
Saltto taste

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Pressure cook rice and toor dal together with 5 cups of water.
  2. 2Simmer the vegetables in tamarind water with salt until just tender.
  3. 3Stir in the bisi bele powder, jaggery and the rice dal mash. Loosen with hot water.
  4. 4Temper mustard seeds, curry leaves, cashews and peanuts in ghee and pour over.
Serve it like this

Fluff gently with a fork and serve hot on a wide plate, with raita or a side next to it.
