Ingredients

4 servings
Fish8 bhetki fillet pieces
Mustard paste2½ tbsp
Fresh grated coconut½ cup, ground
Green chilli4, 2 ground and 2 slit
Mustard oil2½ tbsp
Turmeric (ground turmeric)½ tsp
Saltto taste
Sugar½ tsp
Lemon juice2 tsp

Method

5 steps
  1. 1Marinate the fish with salt, lemon juice and a pinch of turmeric for 10 minutes.
  2. 2Mix mustard paste, ground coconut, two ground chillies, sugar, turmeric and 2 tbsp mustard oil into a thick paste. Coat the fish.
  3. 3Soften banana leaf squares over a flame. Place a fillet with paste on each, add a chilli slice and a few drops of oil, fold and tie with thread or pin with a toothpick.
  4. 4Cook the parcels on a lightly oiled tawa, covered, on low heat, turning once. Or steam them.
  5. 5Open one parcel to check, then serve the rest still wrapped with hot rice.
Serve it like this

Serve hot on a plate, with a few fresh coriander leaves on top.
